For the 11th time in a row again Sampe Benelux organized the well-known Student Meeting. Sampe Benelux is very grateful to Coexpair who hosted this year's meeting in their new facilities in Namur in the southern part of Belgium. In the afternoon of the first day, after the sponsors' introduction and the keynote lecture of Andre Bertin of Coexpair, the 8 participating master and PhD students gave very inspiring presentations on their work. This covered material development and characterisation, experimental techniques as well as simulation. The participants came from KULeuven, UGent, TUDelft and UTwente.
Especially thanks to the sponsors Sampe Benelux is able to continue this successful series and send the winning students to the Sampe Europe student competition to represent the Benelux. This year the meeting was sponsored by Airborne Composites, ASCO, CTC, DTC, Fokker, Huntsman Polyurethanes, KVE Composites, Ten Cate Advanced Composites and TPRC. Thank you very much!
The student presentations were judged by a jury with representatives of the sponsors, the hosts of the meeting and Sampe Benelux board members. The jury members were: Anders Brodsjo (Airborne Composites), Alexander Verhuizen (ASCO),Sjoerd Hooning (DTC), Marko Vreeling (Fokker) and Jeroen de Vries (KVE Composites). The jury was completed by three SAMPE Benelux board members: Ariean Koelewijn, Bert Rietman (also representing TPRC) and Bart Vangrimde (also representing Huntsman Polyurethanes). Due to the high quality of the presentations the jury announced two winners who won the trip to Paris to represent Sampe Benelux during the Sampe Europe student competition.
During the second day of the student meeting the participants were invited to the SONACA facility in Gosselies near Charleroi. The composites production and assembly halls were visited yielding a very impressive overview of high-tech production using composites.
